The dimpled nubs crate a vapour and thermal insulation barrier for both internal walls and that are adjacent to water-proof membrane, it is also protecting th water-proof membrance from the back filling under the ground.
2.The air gap prevents hydrostatic pressure building up . The water runs down the outer surface towards the drain.
3.On the top of the dimples,there is usually filtration geotextile to make sure the drainage channel runing well without any block for any articles,for example,filling particles or concrete.
